Tiki Ron Swanson

Always the Parks and Recreation fan, I loved the tiki Ron Swanson carving of the angry Hawaiian god that Leslie Knope and Ben Wyatt brought back from their honeymoon as a gift for Ron Swanson, a dead ringer for him. I thought it would be fun to do a design with the carving as a tiki drinking glass from a fictional bar. Akua Huhu is Hawaiian for Angry god, and Honolulu is where Leslie and Ben honeymooned.

The design

I wanted a design that reflects the Hawaiian tiki aesthetic that was popular in the 50s and 60s. That style usually involves bright deep colors, high contrast, offset print, and not a lot of fine details. I first traced a freeze frame in Procreate, and vectorized it, adding tiki style typography, and a monstera leaf background.
